Hotel de Westerburcht is a 3 star hotel in Westerbork, in the northern part of Holland. This hotel is centered between the big cities Groningen and Zwolle. Nearby are the smaller cities of Assen, Emmen and Hoogeveen.

The monastery theme of the hotel can be found in small details such as, torches and the wooden floors.

The hotel is known for its flexibility. We have no problems with early breakfasts and late dinners. The hotel is centered in a very nice surrounding; forrests, bicycle routes and attractions as the famous zoo in Emmen, TT and superbike races in Assen and the flowermuseum Hortus in Haren.

All children under 3 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.

All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots.

All older children or adults are charged EUR 25.00 per night and person for extra beds.

Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 2.

Extra beds and baby cots are upon request and need to be confirmed by the hotel.

Supplements will not be calculated automatically in the total costs and have to be paid separately in the hotel.

The complex consists of a big sidewalk café, an international restaurant full of atmosphere, 3 sun rooms, a nice bar, various halls with a total capacity of 400
people and of course the hotel.

Food & beverage

"Hotel de Westerburcht" has got a cosy à la carte restaurant with an internationally orientated menu. The restaurant consists of two parts; on the one hand the glazed veranda with 25 seats, on the other hand the cosy restaurant with separate tables and 40 seats. The classical furnished à la carte restaurant offers you a wide variety of international meals, as well as the (fast) lunch as well as the dinner. The hotelbar, which is arranged as a pub with an official Wurlitzer jukebox is very suitable for informal conversation. You can order your appetizer here, but also your beer (wide range), digestive or nightcap.

The hotel is also appropriate because of its flexibility for people, who because of their job, have to be in the environment of Westerbork. The times for breakfast and dinner can be arranged by mutual arrangement beforehand. The hotel has the disposal of a large terrace, a cosy à la carte restaurant, 3 sun-lounges and a friendly hotelbar. Besides that there are several rooms with a total capacity of more than 400 persons, very convenient for parties, conferences and large companies.

"Hotel Abbey de Westerburcht" has 37 rooms - all comfortably decorated and equipped with quality beds. We have 9 rooms situated on the ground floor and all other rooms can be reached by elevator. We also have facilities for disabled guests.

The hotel has 3 luxury rooms. These rooms are more spacious, have a large queen-size bed and a luxury bathroom with a jacuzzi and private shower.

Family room: 4 of our rooms have been furnished as family rooms, offering more space. There are several beds in these rooms. Some rooms have separate floors, which are especially suitable for (grand) parents with little (grand) children.

The original family room that we had been able to book online was a complete dump, worse off than a $30 a night motel in the USA!!! We were upgraded to a "luxury" room at a cost of an extra €30 upon our request. The luxury room was OK but definitely not worth the €130. Staff was unfriendly; never bothered to tell us that they lock up at 9 pm so we had to wake up their neigbours to get in!

Excellent location, good facilities. Helpful and pleasant staff.

Room on top floor was quite warm in height of summer. A ceiling fan or other air circulation would have helped.

Very helpful stuff.Great brackfast and information regard site seeng and activities.

Wuld be better if room was aquipt with AC instead of fan.

In het restaurant was echt super. Het eten en de prijs daarvan de service van de gastheren. Echt geweldig.

Bij de receptie was niet altijd iemand aanwezig en diegene had gewoon casual kleding aan, dat mag nettere kleding zijn. Bijv een mooie pantalon met een blouse. Dit was als tip en niet als klacht bedoeld. Want het was echt geweldig in de abdij. Ik zou er zo nog een keer gaan overnachten.

Wij vonden het een fijn hotel, goed ontbijt en prima diner. Gezellige ambiance. Heel goede huurfietsen! Het personeel was heel behulpzaam, ook toen we onverwachts 's avonds laat naar huis moeten. Geen probleem met afwijkende vertrektijd! Het fietsarrangement is echt een aanrader......

vriendelijk personeel, zeer nette kamers

in vergelijking met het weekmenu dat slechts 25 cent meer kost, is het ontbijt vrij prijzig voor een eerder beperkt buffet..
