Formally a school for sea navigation, this cosy hotel still boasts a number of authentic details in the interior of the restaurant, reception and entrance hall. The hotel has been in the same family for many years now, and from the moment you enter the hotel you are greeted by the homely atmosphere of a family-run hotel. Besides luxury, comfort and hospitality, there is still room for personal attention in our hotel. We are aware of the fact that the time you choose to spend on Vlieland and the Wadden should be a moment of rest in your otherwise busy existence. Therefore, let us take care of your needs. We are happy to serve you a cup of coffee, a tasty lunch, or a beautiful glass of wine while you're sitting in front of the fireplace.
In case you don't want to miss anything that goes on outside the island, we have provided for an extensive range of newspapers, and a comfortable reading table.

Food & beverage

As the evening starts to set in, your hosts in our cosy restaurant have already started to cook your meal. Top off a wonderful day on the island by treating yourself to a special diner with a delicious glass of wine, which you can select from our international wine menu.

Restaurant de Wadden also serves lunch and dinner for groups. Enjoy a special island drink or night cap at the hotel bar before retreating for the evening.

Area information

The length of Vlieland is approximately 12 km and on the west side of the island this length is extended by 8 km because of a sandbank, the Vliehors. The island never exceeds 2 km in width. A well experienced hiker can walk round the island in a day, but you might rather want to take your time as there is a lot to see. Oost-Vlieland, the only village on the island, is a good starting point. Most of the historical buildings, such as the town hall, the Armhuis (former poorhouse converted into a café/restaurant) and the Tromp's Huys (museum), are listed as monuments. All the shops, bars and restaurants can be found in the Dorpsstraat. The Vlielander beach is on the north side of the island and behind this beach you will find the dune area, which is a beautiful and divers area that stretches out as far as the eye can see. All in all, Vlieland is the island par excellence for cycling and hiking and if you have visited it once, you are sure to return.

Location in the town, breakfast choice was very good, cleanliness of the room, very efficient reception booking in and checking out, excellent & cheap arrangement for the cycle use

it was a little noisy at the back of the hotel (kitchen area) between 12 -02- perhaps staff requiring a smoke

Big lovely room with fantastic views, right on the seafront. Varied breakfast buffet. Great location. Helpful, English-speaking staff.

The hotel's own restaurant and eetcafe are not for the hurried ones. Life in the island goes slow... so does the service.

Mooie schone kamer. Hotel midden in het dorp gelegen.

Het café gedeelte ging al om 23:00 uur ducht.Geen lift aanwezig. Geen gratis internet.

goed eten in het hotel erg jammer vabn de kou en zondag moesten we van onze kamer af terwijl het de hele ddag regende en we pas om kwart voor 5 met het veer wweg konden

De kamer was prima! Hadden wij niet verwacht! Fraai uitzicht. (We hebben ook wel eens kamer gehad met uitzicht op een morsig binnenplaatsje) Ontbijtbuffet goed, niet exorbitant. Gezellig restaurant, De Wadden!

We hebben drie keer gedineerd à la carte. Vond ik aan de dure kant.Geen loyaal gebaar. omdat wij gasten waren. Hotel had drie restaurants, naast elkaar " 't Praethuys" o.a voor vlees. Dat was te lawaaierig en ongezellige tafels. We waren toen gedwongen om in "de Wadden" vis te eten. Gelukkig was er een menukaart van het "Praethuys"aanwezig. Op donderdagmorgen was men vergeten ons om 6.00 uur te we

De ligging is perfect, zo middenin het dorp. Het cafe van het hotel dichtbij is daarbij ideaal.

Omdat in onze kamer de vloerverwarming aanstond, was het daar erg warm. Een open deur hielp nauwelijks.

De kamer zag er netjes uit, leuk ingericht en het ontbijt was goed verzorgd (ruime keuze).

Wat betreft het personeel heb ik matig ingevuld. Dit heeft te maken dat ik horecapersoneel/winkelpersoneel over het gehele eiland niet altijd klantvriendelijk vind (afstandelijk). Op zich was het personeel in het Hotel de Wadden beleefd en netjes.
