Hotel-restaurant Het Roode Hert is located in the heart of Bovenkarspel, near the forest "Streekbos", Lake "Markermeer" and the city of Enkhuizen. The hotelrooms are equipped with private sanitary, TV and telephone.Our hotel is easily accessible by public transport via the train station of Bovenkarspel-Flora. Parking and a bike shed are available for our guests.

The history of the Hotel Restaurant Het Roode Hert starts around 1595. Het Roode Hert was an inn in the West Frisian region on the road between Hoorn and Enkhuizen.

For 4 centuries Het Roode Hert has been a shelter for those on their way to find a resting place where they could eat, drink and stay overnight. This former guesthouse is now a multifunctional renowned venue where the style of the past is still clearly present.

With a rich history and culinary tradition, this hotel offers high-quality gastronomy and service. In the course of time this hotel has received a variety of national and international authorities. Nowadays it is still the meeting point for international business travellers.

The hotel’s team of motivated professionals offer warm hospitality and are there to assist you and take into account your wishes. We feel responsible for you and your guests and make quality and service a high priority.

Het Roode Hert has a number of attractive spaces that offer enough space to receive 700 guests for receptions, meetings, product presentations and parties. Of course, smaller groups are also possible.

Food & beverage

We are known for our exclusive wine list and our expertise on wines. The restaurant has a typically French style and offers a tasteful décor for having an intimate (family) dinner or a business lunch.

The restaurant provides space for up to 55 guests in a unique ambience, not common in this region. The French atmosphere with the longcase clocks add to this. The hostess Christine Fluitman-Schouten gives you a warm welcome and offers personal service. The chef Joost Pennekamp runs the kitchen.

Area information

Het Roode Hert is located in the heart of Bovenkarspel, within the Stede Broec area, known for its flower culture. This is also the environment where you will find the largest sowing seeds companies in the world. The famous town along the Zuiderzee, Enkhuizen, is very nearby.

It was cheap.

Very, very, very did I say very already? Well the finishing was old chairs for bedside tables smell from the bathroom like it was just used all the time. In need of a serious make over.

Nice clean and friendly hotel which was very clean. Rooms a little dated but comfortable. Very quiet and good breakfast albeit it could be varied a little more. Manageress extremely helpful and very pleasant

A small problem with the drains which made our room smell a little on the odd occassion. Landlady did put a strong air freshner in the bathroom and we noted a plumber was called in.

had to climb with the suitcases to 2nd floor with no elevator (very narrow steps).

Karakteristieke / klassieke uitstraling; het ontbijt was compleet en goed verzorgd

Temperatuur in kamer was te laag. In badkamer werkte de verwarming niet.

'Personeel' : zéér klantgericht en vriendelijk en behulpzaam - een zorgvuldige keuken

'Niet tevreden' is teveel gezegd, maar we constateerden een opmerkelijk verschil tussen de sectie restaurant (uitstekend) en de sectie hotel (kamers wel erg sober en 'aan een opknapbeurtje toe' )

Wij bleven hier overnachten omdat wij in de buurt zelf een feestje hadden, dus eigenlijk weinig mee gekregen van het hotel zelf.

De warme maaltijden waren uitstekend. Ligt centraal om leuke uitstapjes te maken.

Ontbijt was sober en ongezellig. Bedden waren niet echt comfortabel.

Überaus engagiertes, sehr freundliches Personal sowie eine zum Haus wunderbar passende Einrichtung im Restaurant- und Barbereich. Das ist wirklich ein Erlebnis. Das Essen im Restaurant ist spitze! Wir werden dieses Hotel in Zukunft sicher wieder buchen. Es gibt auch reichlich Parkplätze direkt am Haus.
